Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin held talks with Egypt’s Ambassador to Moscow, Hamdy Shaaban, focusing on developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and the situation in the Horn of Africa, the Russian foreign ministry reported.
“The parties exchanged views on pressing regional issues, with particular emphasis on the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and the state of affairs in the Horn of Africa,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, special attention was also given to strengthening Russian-Egyptian cooperation. “The sides gave a positive assessment of the results of the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, held in Cairo on December 19–20, which laid the groundwork for the Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for 2026,” the statement noted.
The meeting was held at the initiative of the Egyptian side.
