Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud had a telephone conversation. This was reported on Thursday by the Kremlin press service.
The parties discussed the topic of the transfer of foreigners who illegally fought in Donbass in the ranks of the Ukrainian forces to Riyadh. "The parties expressed the satisfaction with the transfer to the Saudi side of foreign prisoners of war who illegally participated in the hostilities in Donbass, which took place with the personal mediation of the Crown Prince," the Kremlin reported.
Participation in the work of the SCO
The crown prince of the Kingdom assured that Saudi Arabia will actively participate in the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
"The topics of interaction in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were discussed in light of the decision taken at the recent summit in Samarkand to grant Saudi Arabia the status of a dialogue partner," the press service reported. According to its data, "Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud noted the increasing role of the SCO in international affairs and expressed the readiness of the Kingdom to actively participate in its activities".
Oil market
During the conversation, the sides discussed issues of ensuring stability in the global oil market.
"The issues of Russian-Saudi coordination to ensure stability in the world oil market were considered. Both sides gave high assessment of the efforts within the framework of OPEC+ and confirmed the intention to continue adhering to the agreements reached," the statement said.
Bilateral cooperation
The heads of state noted a high rate of development of relations between the two countries and agreed to continue personal contacts.
"During the exchange of views on the bilateral agenda it was stated that trade and economic relations are developing at a high rate, the turnover of goods is growing, mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields is strengthening. It has been agreed to continue cooperation and personal contacts," the Kremlin said in a statement.
According to the Kremlin, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud informed that Saudi Arabia will be represented at a high level at the upcoming Russian Energy Week international forum in Moscow on October 12-14.
"In connection with the 90th anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 23, Vladimir Putin asked to convey his heartfelt congratulations and good wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and congratulated all the leadership and people of the country on this momentous date," the Kremlin noted.
The conversation took place on the initiative of the Saudi side.
