During a meeting with Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Oman's Consultative Council, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin proposed signing a cooperation agreement. This was reported on the parliamentary chamber's official website.
“Vyacheslav Volodin and Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali discussed Russian-Omani inter-parliamentary relations and prospects for economic cooperation. To further develop the inter-parliamentary dialogue, Vyacheslav Volodin suggested signing a cooperation agreement between the State Duma and Oman's Consultative Council,” the statement read.
Volodin expressed gratitude to his Omani counterparts for supporting Russia's resolution against the glorification of Nazism at the United Nations General Assembly. He emphasized that Russia and Oman share similar stances on various international issues. “We both advocate for a fair global order and a multipolar world. Our nations support the preservation of traditional values, the institution of the family, historical memory, and faith,” he highlighted.
The meeting also touched on socio-economic cooperation between the two countries and the development of tourism ties. Volodin added that creating favorable conditions for increasing mutual investments is essential. “This includes building new infrastructure in the financial and banking sectors, utilizing national currencies, and payment systems independent of Western countries,” noted the State Duma speaker.
