The collective West realizes that it will not be able to cope with the catastrophe in Afghanistan without Russia's help, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on the air of Channel One Russia on Thursday.

"They [G7] understand that without our country this major disaster [in Afghanistan], it is not a problem, it is a disaster on all fronts, they will not do anything about it," she said.

The diplomat also stressed that Afghanistan "collapsed because of the collective West." "We see an absolutely shameful phenomenon - what they have done to the country, and how they could not even leave it with dignity. And how they have put tens of thousands, let alone hundreds of thousands, millions of citizens at risk. And those who were working with them, as well as those who were not working for anyone else, but were simply living in their country," she added.

Zakharova said that NATO's actions "have ignited a real fire" in Afghanistan, which is also "surrounded by a lot of explosives". She said she was also referring to weapons brought into the country and drug trafficking problems.

"A colossal problem"

The US actions in Afghanistan have created a colossal problem, not for Washington itself, but primarily for all other countries, Zakharova said.

"The result [of the US mission in Afghanistan] is zero in terms of stated goals, but in terms of real life, which Washington needs to go back to, it is a colossal problem not for them, but primarily for all of us," she said. - "That's what the negotiations in Dushanbe are all about right now, the CSTO and SCO, which bring together the countries of the region. Not only the countries directly bordering Afghanistan but the region as a whole".
