Kyrgyzstan will meet all its obligations to Russia in full, Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov told an interview with Russia-24 TV channel on Monday.
"If we talk about our obligations to Russia, all relations - financial and other obligations of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation - will be fully fulfilled. There will be no changes, and if so, only by mutual agreement," Zhaparov said. Prime Minister stressed that Kyrgyzstan and Russia "have been together so far, will continue to be together" and noted that the relations with Russia "are good and in the future will be good as well".
According to him, the two countries "have much in common", and Kyrgyzstan "can't stand aside from Russia geopolitically, in military cooperation and economically. Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as Zhaparov noted, cooperate in the EAEC, CSTO, and "there is no other way". Zhaparov emphasized that the republic would cooperate with other countries "on an equal basis", but "the most important strategic partner is Russia".
Sadyr Zhaparov also said that he would run for the head of state if the constitutional changes allowing to do so were adopted.
"According to the main law of the country, a person acting as president may not participate in elections. At present, amendments to the legislation on the election of the Parliament and the President are being prepared. If as a result of these changes, the law will allow me to participate in elections, I will go. But it's too early to talk about it, a decision on this issue has not yet been made," Zhaparov said.
Vertical power in Kyrgyzstan has been restored in full after the political crisis in the country, Zhaparov said.
"Today, the vertical of power exists because the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament - TASS) is functioning and officially approved me as the Prime Minister of the country. Yesterday (October 16 - TASS) an official ceremony took place and I was granted the status of acting president. Thus, the vertical of power was fully restored," Zhaparov said.
After October 4 elections in Kyrgyzstan, representatives of parties that didn't get to parliament organized mass riots in Bishkek. Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov and speaker of parliament Dastanbek Jumabekov resigned. The Central Election Commission of the republic declared the results of the declaration of will null and void, the date of the new vote should be announced before November 6.
Kanat Isayev was elected as the speaker of parliament, and Sadyr Zhaparov, who was released from prison by protesters, was elected as the prime minister. On October 15, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov resigned and the authority of the head of state was transferred to Zhaparov.
