Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in Cairo, sending warm greetings through him to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Egyptian leader emphasized Cairo's appreciation for its relationship with Moscow.
“Please convey my greetings to President Putin. Egypt highly values its strong and growing partnership with Russia,” el-Sisi stated, according to his office.
The meeting focused on bilateral economic cooperation, particularly the construction of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the development of a Russian industrial zone along the Suez Canal.
The Russian delegation included Deputy Security Council Secretary Alexander Venediktov, Ambassador to Cairo Georgy Borisenko, and representatives from security and economic agencies. The Egyptian side was represented by Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, General Intelligence Director Hassan Rashad, and Presidential National Security Advisor Faiza Abou el-Naga.
Shoigu's visit, which began earlier this week, aims to advance strategic Russian projects in trade, energy, and food security. The Russian delegation comprises senior officials from multiple ministries and state corporations, including Rosatom, Roscosmos, and Rostec.
