Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed the Kremlin's serious concern about the situation in Niger and emphasized their support for the prompt restoration of law and order in the country.
"We are closely monitoring the situation in Niger, particularly considering our recent close involvement in African affairs alongside African nations. The developments there are of significant concern," stated the Kremlin spokesman. He further emphasized that the situation in Niger was a matter of serious concern for all participants of the Russia-Africa summit held in St. Petersburg last week.
"We advocate for the swift restoration of law and order in the country and call for restraint from all parties to prevent any loss of life. Our hope is for Niger to promptly return to constitutional order and resume its efforts to address the significant challenges it faces in its development," Peskov emphasized.
He suggested that when formulating the question, the Kremlin's assessment of the situation in Niger and the words of the founder of the PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, about what is happening in this country should not be conflated or considered as the same opinion.
