Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has urged all parties involved in the Middle East conflict to halt military actions that result in civilian deaths and the destruction of non-military infrastructure.
"We must do everything possible to ensure that everyone involved in this crisis stops targeting civilian infrastructure and causing casualties among the population," Lavrov stated during a press conference following talks with Kenyan Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi.
The Russian diplomat emphasized that ending such attacks should be the "immediate and top priority." He also called on the warring sides to cease hostilities and return to the negotiating table, provided that "trust in the diplomatic process still remains."
"In my view, these steps are absolutely urgent. I hope that, together with other sensible nations, we can promote this approach on the international stage," he added.
