The United States will persist in exerting pressure on the Global South and East, a strategy that comes as no surprise to Russia, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during an interview with Russian and international media.
"Threats to raise tariffs, punish those using currencies other than the dollar, or adopting alternative payment platforms—these tactics do not surprise us," Lavrov remarked. "As I mentioned earlier, suppressing competition and pursuing unilateral advantages have always been hallmarks of US policy. Interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations has long been a staple of Washington’s methods, and it’s clear this approach will continue. We must be prepared for this."
Shift in Global Dynamics
Lavrov emphasized that, over time, the US will need to reconsider its domineering approach and adapt to the evolving global order.
"Life itself will compel the United States to recognize the trends and realities of the modern world," he said. "They will need to understand that dictatorial tactics can no longer serve as the main tool in international relations."
