Mali Leader Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attack in Conversation with Putin

Interim President of Mali Assimi Goita strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while also expressing his deep condolences, the Kremlin's press service reports.

 

"During the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Assimi Goita, the Interim President of Mali, Goita strongly condemned the terrorist act at Crocus City Hall and expressed deep condolences to the Russian people," the statement reads.

 

The two leaders agreed to enhance their cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts, according to the press service.

 

"A comprehensive exchange of views took place regarding the turbulent situation in the Sahara-Sahel region. It was agreed to step up practical cooperation in the counter-terrorism arena," the press service added.

 

On bilateral relations

 

The discussion also covered steps to bolster Russia-Mali relations across various sectors.

 

"The leaders discussed further steps to strengthen Russia-Mali ties in various areas, including joint projects in energy, agriculture, and the mining sector," the report indicated.

 

Goita expressed his gratitude for Russia's free supplies of wheat, fertilizers, and fuel to Mali, as noted by the press service.

 

"Assimi Goita expressed special gratitude for Russia's gratuitous supplies of wheat, fertilizers, and fuel," the statement concluded.
