Russia-Africa Forum Participants to Address Security and Counterterrorism

01 November

Participants at the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, scheduled for November 9-10, will discuss pressing security issues, including cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and preventing an arms race in space. The conference will be held at the Sirius Federal Territory, with organizers from Roscongress confirming the agenda.

The discussions build on the outcomes of the second Russia-Africa summit and will feature foreign ministers from Russia and African nations, leaders from the African Union Commission, and executives of regional integration organizations. Additionally, the forum will welcome representatives from ministries, financial institutions, business, academia, media, and civil society from both Russia and Africa.

Topics for discussion will span cooperation in international security, information security, counterterrorism, space security, economic and investment partnerships, food security, geological exploration, and digital governance. Emphasis will also be placed on educational exchanges, diplomatic training, healthcare, and public health initiatives. Furthermore, Roscongress noted that special attention will be devoted to collaboration between African countries and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Anton Kobyakov, a presidential advisor and the executive secretary of the organizing committee for Russia-Africa events, highlighted the significance of Russia-Africa cooperation, describing it as "a critical element in global policy and economics, characterized by mutually beneficial initiatives and a commitment to shared development." Kobyakov added, "In recent years, both sides have strengthened their ties across numerous areas, including politics, security, economy, education, science, and culture. The attendance of dozens of African ministers at this inaugural conference underscores both a strong interest in partnership with Russia and a shared political will for growth."
