The first group of 27 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip, accompanied by 13 individuals, has been transported to the Turkish capital Ankara from Egypt on Thursday night, as reported by the TRT TV channel.
The impending transfer of patients from the Palestinian enclave to Turkey was previously announced by Fahrettin Koca, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Health. He mentioned that, for the first time since the start of the armed conflict between Israel and Palestine on October 7, patients are being transported from Gaza via Egypt to a third country for treatment.
The patients were flown to Ankara on the presidential detachment's plane, and the Turkish Health Ministry head accompanied them. The patients will be taken to the state hospital in the Bilkent district.
The Turkish minister stated that there are approximately a thousand cancer patients in Gaza, and Turkey is prepared to receive them all if necessary.
Additionally, a Turkish Air Force plane arrived at Ankara airport from Egypt. It was delivering a humanitarian aid cargo for the residents of Gaza.
