At least 83 people have been killed and 1,126 wounded in the armed clashes that began on April 15 in Sudan between the country's army units and the Rapid Reaction Force (Special Forces, RRF). This data was cited by a representative of the World Health Organization.
"From the start of combat actions between the army and rapid forces [in Sudan], at least 83 people have been killed and 1,126 have been wounded," said the official, who was quoted by Al Hadath TV on Monday night. He added that "the medical supplies distributed across hospitals in the country's capital Khartoum before current events have been depleted for the time being."
He also pointed out that " the doctors, the medical personnel, and the entire health sector face great difficulties and problems in Khartoum because there is no security."
The situation in Sudan escalated due to disagreements between Sudanese Army Commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who also heads the Sovereignity Council (the country's governing body), and his deputy on the council, RRF Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemetti). On the morning of April 15, clashes broke out between the two forces near a military base in the city of Merowe and in Khartoum.
