Acting President, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov noted the important role of Russia in stabilizing the situation in the republic. He said this on Wednesday in Bishkek during a meeting with Russian Ambassador Nikolai Udovichenko, the press service of the head of the Kyrgyz state reports.

"I would like to note the special role of the Russian Federation in stabilizing the domestic political situation in Kyrgyzstan, including the special role of special representative of the Russian President Dmitry Kozak," the press service quotes Zhaparov.

According to him, Russia has always been and "remains a reliable strategic partner" of Kyrgyzstan. "I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Russian side for its support during the difficult period for the country related to the spread of the coronavirus infection, including sending humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan," the acting president continued.

He also assured that Bishkek attaches "importance to further strengthening and building strategic partnership and allied relations" with Russia. "The domestic political situation in the country has stabilized. At the same time, all branches of government and the state apparatus have stepped up their efforts to restore the country's social and economic situation, including preparations for a possible second wave of the coronavirus infection pandemic," Zhaparov stressed. According to him, Kyrgyzstan is also not going to "change the status of the Russian language", which will remain official in the country. Zhaparov also voiced a request to "increase the number of Russian language teachers to train citizens living in Kyrgyz villages".

"One important element (of cooperation) is to attract additional Russian investment as well as an emphasis on economic cooperation between countries. The Russian Federation is ready to assist in modernizing the tax system and the system of traceability marking of goods",  the Russian Ambassador said.

Situation in Kyrgyzstan

After the October 4 elections in Kyrgyzstan representatives of parties that didn't get to parliament organized mass riots in Bishkek. Prime minister Kubatbek Boronov and speaker of parliament Dastanbek Jumabekov resigned. The republic's Central Election Commission declared the results of the will null and void.

Kanat Isayev was elected speaker of parliament, and Sadyr Zhaparov, who had been released from prison by protesters, was elected prime minister. On October 15 the president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov resigned and the authority of the head of state passed on to Zhaparov.
