The next session of the Moscow format consultations on Afghanistan will be held on October 4 in Moscow, with the participation of Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister in the Taliban's interim government (the Taliban is banned in Russia). This was announced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova during a briefing.
“The sixth regular session of the Moscow format consultations on Afghanistan at the level of special representatives and senior officials will be held on October 4 in Moscow,” Zakharova stated. She noted that the head of the Taliban's interim government’s Foreign Ministry has been invited as the guest of honor. He will lead a representative national delegation to the Russian capital, she added.
Zakharova also mentioned that during the consultations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with his Afghan counterpart to discuss key issues of bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Kabul.
