During the plenary session of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, President of the Union of the Comoros and Chairman of the African Union Azali Assoumani addressed the need for facilitating the delivery of grain from both Russia and Ukraine to the African continent.

Assoumani emphasized that Russia is making significant efforts to address the food problem in Africa. He highlighted the importance of grain supply, stating that it is a vital issue for the continent. The suspension of the grain deal could potentially impact their cooperation. To date, more than 1.9 million tons of grain, valued at over $3 billion, have been supplied from Russia.

"This (grain supply - TASS) is of utmost importance to us. The suspension of the grain deal could potentially impact our cooperation. To date, more than 1.9 million tons of grain have been supplied from Russia, with the total value of supplies exceeding $3 billion," he stated.

"The Ukrainian crisis is having a significant impact, and resolving it will save many  people's lives who rely on food supplies. Currently, our continent is facing the severe impact of rising food prices. Hence, we earnestly request all stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of both Ukrainian and Russian grain to our countries," Assoumani emphasized.
