Algeria has condemned the Israeli Air Force strikes on the port of Hodeidah, a Yemeni city on the Red Sea coast.
“We strongly condemn the blatant aggression of the Zionist entity (i.e. Israel - TASS note) against brotherly Yemen,” the Algerian Foreign Ministry stated, as reported by Al Masirah TV channel, which is affiliated with Yemen's rebel-Houthi Ansar Allah movement.
The statement criticized the strikes as part of a systematic escalation strategy by Israel to extend its hegemony in the region. Despite growing international condemnation, the statement noted, Israel continues to challenge the global community.
“We call on the international community to fulfill all its obligations and not allow the criminal Zionist occupier to escape accountability and punishment,” the statement concluded.
On the evening of July 20, Israeli planes targeted Hodeidah, hitting oil storage tanks in the seaport, the city's power plant, and the military police building in northern Hodeidah, according to Al Hadath TV channel.
Explosion in Central Tel Aviv
In the early morning hours of July 19, an explosion occurred in downtown Tel Aviv. Yemen's Houthi movement Ansar Allah claimed responsibility, stating they used a new drone model capable of bypassing air defense systems.
Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis warned they would shell Israel and prevent associated ships from passing through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave ends.
