Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin for Russia’s high-level involvement in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, currently held in Baku.
“It’s a pleasure to see you. Thank you for making time to come. I am very pleased that Russia is represented at this conference at such a high level. I’m sure your personal participation in the discussions will add significant value,” Aliyev told Mishustin during their meeting.
Aliyev extended his appreciation to the Russian prime minister for supporting Azerbaijan both before and during the decision to host the UN climate conference in Baku and throughout the preparation process.
“This is an exceptional event for us. Azerbaijan has never hosted an event of this scale before. We are delighted that friendly nations are actively participating and are represented at a high level,” Aliyev added.
The COP-29 conference, taking place in Baku from November 11 to 22, gathers delegates from over 100 countries to discuss effective solutions to combat the negative impacts of global warming. A leaders’ meeting is set for November 12-13, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres also in attendance. The Russian delegation is headed by Mishustin.
