Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council and Army Commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan will attend the first Russia-Arab summit in October and is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sudan's Ambassador to Russia Mohammed Sirraj told Izvestia.
“The Chairman [Abdel Fattah al-Burhan] will participate in the [Russia-Arab] summit, and a bilateral meeting with Putin is anticipated,” the ambassador stated.
On May 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a message marking the opening of the 34th Arab League summit, invited all leaders of Arab League member states to the first Russia-Arab summit scheduled for October 15. The Russian president expressed confidence that the Russia-Arab meeting would further strengthen mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation between the countries and contribute to ensuring peace, security, and stability in the Middle East and North Africa regions.
