The Arab League has called for an end to the "crimes committed by Israel" in the region, condemning the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. In a statement on its website, the organization described the attack as a "clear violation" of Syrian sovereignty.
The general secretariat of the Arab League denounced Israel's attack on the consulate, warning of the potential for the Jewish state to escalate the war at a regional level. They called for urgent action to terminate the daily crimes committed by Israel.
Iranian media reported that an Israeli Air Force strike on Damascus targeted a house, damaging the country's consulate building. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the deaths of seven military advisers, including two generals, Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, who commanded the IRGC's Al-Quds forces in Lebanon and Syria.
Russia strongly condemned the attack and requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting to discuss the issue. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi responded to the shelling, promising that it would not go unavenged. When approached for comment, a spokeswoman for the Israel Defense Forces press service declined to respond to the allegations.
