Azerbaijan will buy a batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V. The corresponding order was signed by the country's Prime Minister Ali Asadov on Thursday.
Under the drug purchase agreement, Azerbaijan will import a batch of Sputnik V within 180 days, the document published on the website of the republic's government said.
By another order of the Cabinet of Ministers, a batch of vaccines from AztraZeneca company will be bought and brought into the country within the same period.
Vaccination against coronavirus in Azerbaijan began on January 18. CoronaVac vaccine developed by Chinese company Sinovac Biotech is currently used. The company has signed a contract to supply 4 million doses of the drug. According to the Ministry of Health, more than 435,000 people have already been vaccinated in the country.
According to the operational staff under the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, the number of infected people in Azerbaijan since the start of the pandemic has reached 237,775 people, 230,116 patients were cured and 3,257 died.
