Bali Introduces New Rules for Foreign Tourists

24 March

The government of Bali has issued new regulations aimed at ensuring that foreign visitors respect local customs and traditions, according to the Indonesian news agency Antara.

Under the new guidelines, tourists are expected to dress modestly and appropriately when visiting religious sites, cultural landmarks, and public areas. The rules also require visitors to use licensed tour guides, exchange currency only at official exchange points, and make payments exclusively in the local currency.

Authorities are also emphasizing the importance of following local traffic laws. Tourists are expected to obey road signs, wear helmets while riding motorcycles, adhere to vehicle capacity limits, and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Additionally, all foreign visitors will be required to pay a tourism levy of 150,000 Indonesian rupiahs (approximately $10) during their stay in Bali.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster warned that tourists who fail to comply with these regulations will face strict penalties in accordance with local laws.
