Bishkek Plans Space Exhibition with Russia's Participation

26 April

A space exhibition is planned to be held at the National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek with the participation of Russia, announced Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Korsakov.

"We have signed an agreement. A space exhibition is planned to be opened in the National Museum of Kyrgyzstan, and we plan to take an active part in it," said Korsakov, who recently visited Kyrgyzstan, during a TASS press conference held in conjunction with the International Science and Education Festival 'Yuri Gagarin - Hero of Our Time.'

Korsakov also expressed his hope that the planetarium, which operated there during the Soviet Union, would reopen in the future in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. He reminisced about visiting the planetarium as a child. "It is very important for children to have a place where they can come to look at the stars and start dreaming about space," added the cosmonaut.

In turn, Roscosmos test cosmonaut Harutyun Kiviryan, who recently visited Armenia, stated that local students showed keen interest in the first launch of the Angara-A5 heavy launch vehicle from the Vostochny Cosmodrome on April 11.

"They were interested to know the prospects [of Russian cosmonautics]. As an example, I mentioned [...] that we have a new launch at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, a new rocket, a new upper stage, which worked together smoothly, and this is like the beginning, like the prospect of our cosmonautics. They were definitely interested," Kiviryan said about his meeting with students of Armenian universities during his trip to the republic.

Kiviryan also shared his impressions of an analog experiment of a human landing on Mars, which he familiarized himself with in Armenia. He specified that he informed the organizers of the study about Russian analog experiments such as SIRIUS and Mars-500.

The International Scientific and Educational Festival "Yuri Gagarin - Hero of Our Time," timed to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the Hero of the Soviet Union, took place on April 19 at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library in Moscow, as well as online with the participation of Roscosmos cosmonauts who visited Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
