Blast in Islamabad, media reports

At least one police officer was killed, and six others were injured in an explosion Friday in southwest Islamabad, Pakistan's capital. The Dawn daily reported this, citing the police.


According to it, the incident occurred in Sector I-10/4 while police were attempting to check a suspicious cab vehicle. A suicide bomber behind the wheel detonated an explosive device as the officer approached. The explosion killed one police officer and injured six others, including four officers.


Police are currently cordoning off the area of the incident.


So far, no group operating in the country has claimed responsibility for the attack.
