Burkina Faso and Mali Launch Joint Airstrikes Against Terrorist Positions

31 July

The armed forces of Burkina Faso and Mali have conducted a joint operation, executing airstrikes against terrorist positions in the Tinzaouaten region of northeastern Mali, near the Algerian border.

The coordinated airstrikes were reported to be successful, according to AES Info. However, there has been no detailed information on the extent of damage inflicted on the terrorists or the number of casualties among their ranks.

On July 25-26, a large group of terrorists, including members of the “Group of the Victory of Islam and Muslims” (an affiliate of Al-Qaeda, banned in Russia) and the “Islamic State in the Greater Sahara” (an affiliate of the Islamic State, banned in Russia), attacked units of the Malian government army near Tinzaouaten.

The General Staff of Mali has acknowledged that the fighting resulted in significant losses in both personnel and equipment for their armed forces.
