Government forces in Burkina Faso conducted a successful operation in the Séba region in the northeast, neutralizing a group of armed terrorists. The operation was reported by the Burkina Faso News Agency.
The militants' location, which included a school building and a nearby garden, was identified using aerial reconnaissance drones. Following this discovery, missile strikes targeted the terrorists' positions.
Surviving militants attempted to flee to the village of Waboti, but they were intercepted and eliminated by combat drones.
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been at the center of terrorist activity in West Africa. The country faces threats from several international extremist groups, including the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, an affiliate of ISIS (banned in Russia), and Ansar-ul-Islam.
According to non-governmental organizations, violence by militants has claimed the lives of approximately 20,000 civilians and security personnel since 2015. Additionally, around 2 million people have been displaced from their homes.
