By 2028, Turkmenistan to increase electricity production by 22.5%

Electricity production in Turkmenistan is planned to increase to 37.5 billion kWh by 2028, which is 22.5% higher than this year's level, Neytralny Turkmenistan reported on Monday.


According to it, more than 3.28 thousand kilometers of power lines are planned to be installed in all provinces of the country by 2028. According to the newspaper, Turkmen electricity is currently exported to Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This year it is planned to export up to 9 billion kWh.


As the newspaper notes, this figure is 3.3 times higher than in 2013. Along with the existing export routes, new directions of electric power supply to foreign countries are being developed, Neytralny Turkmenistan adds.


Turkmenistan is working on creating a single ring energy system of the country. It is expected to be completed in 2023.
