Militants in eastern Syria are increasingly active in attacking facilities of the US-led coalition, Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in the Syrian Arab Republic, said on Monday.

"Over the past week alone, coalition facilities located in the Euphrates region have been shelled four times," he said.

According to him, radical groups' activities have intensified in US-led coalition-controlled territory in Syria.

"On July 11, militants shelled coalition targets in the Konoko and al-Omar oil and gas fields using artisanal multiple rocket launchers," Kulit noted.

On Saturday, a Pentagon spokesman said the shelling occurred - indirect fire was fired at Konoko. On Wednesday, it was reported that the Iraqi military base of Ain al-Assad, which is used by the forces of the international anti-terrorist coalition led by the United States, was also hit by rocket fire. In addition, Erbil's international airport in Iraqi Kurdistan was attacked Tuesday night with a booby-trapped drone.
