Chad to Investigate Attack on Presidential Palace

09 January

Chadian authorities have launched an investigation into an attack on the presidential residence that resulted in at least 19 deaths, including 18 assailants. Foreign Minister and government spokesperson Abderaman Koulamallah announced the inquiry.

“We await the prosecutor’s arrival to present the reality of the situation. Everything is under control. It was a minor incident. The defense and security forces mobilized, and the threat was neutralized,” Koulamallah said in a national address. He emphasized that a thorough investigation will identify those responsible and help prevent future incidents.

Chad, located in a volatile region, frequently faces terrorist attacks, particularly near Lake Chad along the borders with Nigeria and Cameroon, where the militant group Boko Haram operates actively.
