CIS Economic Council approves program for development of national nuclear infrastructures

The CIS Economic Council approved the program on development of national nuclear infrastructures of the CIS member states during the session held via videoconference on Friday, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported. 


"The program on development of national nuclear infrastructures of the CIS member states and the action plan for its implementation were approved, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said. The program will identify steps to improve the nuclear infrastructure or increase the efficiency of existing instruments for the harmonious and safe development of the infrastructure and the industry as a whole, including the improvement of the legal and institutional framework, the development of human resources, the adoption of measures to ensure nuclear and radiation safety," the statement reads.


Also, the Economic Council approved the draft concept of development of industrial cooperation of the CIS member states and the complex of measures for the development of industrial cooperation in the Commonwealth until 2030, which are aimed at creating conditions and promoting the development of new high-tech industries, rapid modernization and technological upgrading of industrial production in the member states, increasing the production and export of competitive, innovative and knowledge-intensive products with a high share of added value.


The next meeting of the Economic Council is scheduled for March 17, 2023, in Moscow.
