CIS Intelligence Services to Discuss Identifying Terrorists at Borders

Heads of the intelligence services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will meet in Astana to discuss measures aimed at enhancing cooperation in detecting members of international terrorist organizations and radicals attempting to enter CIS countries. This was reported by the Public Relations Center of Russia's Federal Security Service (PRC FSB).

 

The 55th session of the Council of Heads of Security and Special Services of CIS Member States  is scheduled for October 4. During the plenary session, the council will focus on improving cooperation between the intelligence services of CIS countries in combating terrorism and religious extremism.

 

The meeting will aim to develop measures to boost collaboration in identifying and tracking down members of international terrorist organizations and other radical elements at points of entry and exit in CIS member states. The results of the base organization's research on counterterrorism and extremism for this year will also be reviewed, and future directions for cooperation in 2024 will be set.

 

Participants will also consider a draft cooperation program to combat terrorism and extremism for 2026-2028. Additionally, specialized working groups will convene to discuss operational and service-related activities.
