All speakers at the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Minsk highlighted the importance of preserving the organization, CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev told reporters.
“It is pleasing to note that nine CIS countries participated at a high level. All members of the Economic Council were present. Vice Premier of Armenia Mger Grigoryan spoke via video link. Armenia supported the majority of the documents,” he said.
Lebedev added, “Everyone who spoke emphasized the importance of maintaining the CIS and preserving economic cooperation as a priority.”
“There is no doubt that none of the states intends to limit their activities within the Commonwealth,” the secretary-general stressed, referring to Armenia’s format of participation in the meeting.
At the session in the Belarusian capital, the CIS heads of government approved 25 documents necessary to deepen integration. Following both the narrow and expanded sessions, delegations adopted development strategies for the Commonwealth in three key areas through 2035.
