The Southern District Military Court sentenced Tajik-born Davlatzoda Fariduni Alimardon to 12 years in a maximum security penal colony for incitement to terrorism, the court's press service told reporters on Wednesday.

"In accordance with the court verdict, the defendant was found guilty and he was sentenced to 12 years in a special-regime correctional colony with the first 3 years served in prison," the statement said.

According to the court materials, in autumn 2020 the accused, while serving his sentence in a correctional institution in the Rostov region for the illegal sale of drugs on a large scale, called on fellow inmates "to armed combat against representatives of other religions and law enforcement officers" and to blow up police departments in the Republic of Tajikistan.

The court specified that Davlatzoda was accused under Art. 205.1 part 1.1 (inclination, recruitment and involvement in committing crimes) and Art. 205.2 part 1 of the Criminal Code (calls to terrorist activities). The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
