Critical level of terrorist danger introduced throughout Kazakhstan

Kazakh authorities have introduced a critical - red - level of terrorist danger throughout the country. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the National Security Committee (KNB) of the republic.

 

"On January 6, 2022, a meeting of the Republican Operational Headquarters (ROH) to combat terrorism was held in the city of Nur-Sultan by Major General Yermek Sagimbaev, chairman of the National Security Committee. By order of the chairman of the KNB, the head of ROH, in coordination with the president, introduced a critical red level of terrorist danger throughout the territory of Kazakhstan. In all regions of the country, an anti-terrorist operation mode has been established," Kazinform news agency quotes the agency as saying.

 

In this connection, the first heads of government agencies have taken measures aimed at stabilising the situation in the country and eliminating the terrorist threat to individuals and the state.


According to Kazakhstan's Tengrinews agency, when a red level of terrorist danger is established, the special services are allowed to carry out searches and inspection of belongings, vehicles, as well as to temporarily restrict or prohibit their movement. It is also allowed to enter residential and other premises without hindrance. Measures such as monitoring of conversations and other information transmitted through telecommunication systems may be taken. Full mobilization and combat readiness of all personnel of special services, as well as strengthening of security measures are also expected.
