CSPU to Launch Russian Language Education Centers in Iraq and Jordan

23 January

The Chechen State Pedagogical University (CSPU) intends to establish "Open Education" centers for Russian language instruction in Iraq and Jordan in 2026, CSPU Rector Ismail Baikhanov said during a press conference at the TASS Caucasus regional information center.

"Following successful pilot courses conducted in Jordan and Iraq at the end of 2025, we noted a significant surge in interest among local residents wishing to study Russian. These new centers will be launched with the official support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation to meet this growing demand," Baikhanov noted.

According to him, existing centers already operating across the Middle East have demonstrated high efficiency. "In 2023, under the mandate of the Ministry of Education and with the assistance of the "My History" Foundation for the Support of Humanities, CSPU established several such institutions in the region. In 2025 alone, over 350 students successfully completed these programs, gaining foundational skills in reading, writing, and speaking Russian," the speaker added.
