CSTO says tension on Armenian-Azerbaijani border persists

23 November 2022

The tension on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains, and shootings take place there almost daily. CSTO Secretary-General Stanislav Zas said this on Wednesday, speaking at a joint session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of CSTO Security Councils.

"At the same time, there is still tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The information that comes to us through the CSTO reaction center confirms that there are almost daily shootings on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," he said.

Zas noted that three special sessions of the CSTO Collective Security Council were devoted to the discussion of threats - in May, September and October this year.

On Tuesday, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on a day of shelling of its army positions on the border with Armenia and in Karabakh. The Armenian Defense Ministry called this statement another misinformation.
