The Secretaries-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergey Lebedev, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Nurlan Yermekbayev have signed a roadmap to advance cooperation among their organizations. The news was shared following their meeting in Beijing during the events of the SCO Council of Heads of State and the SCO+ format.
“A signing ceremony of the roadmap was held on developing cooperation between CSTO, CIS and SCO, along with a joint statement by the organizations’ Secretaries-General commemorating the 80th anniversaries of the end of World War II and the founding of the United Nations,” the CSTO message stated.
The meeting provided a friendly forum for participants to exchange views on current international developments and the organizations’ key priorities. “Discussions focused on proposals to further strengthen collaboration in regional security and address new challenges and threats. There was unanimous agreement that CSTO, CIS and SCO are poised to play an increasingly significant role in maintaining global peace and regional stability, as well as in preventing instability,” the statement continued.
The CSTO also noted that the organizations confirmed their commitment to shaping a new Eurasian security architecture, expanding economic cooperation, and developing cultural ties. “There is an expressed intention to align integration projects and harmonize relations among Eurasia’s development centers,” the message concluded.
