Aida Abdurakhmanova, a pilgrim from Dagestan who provided first aid to a one-year-old African child struggling to breathe due to the heat during Hajj, has been awarded a trip for Umrah (the minor pilgrimage). This was announced by the Hajj company "Marwa-tour."
"A pilgrim from Dagestan, affiliated with 'Marwa,' performed a heroic act on the holy lands. Aida Abdurakhmanova, an emergency doctor at Bezhtinsky Central District Hospital, saved a one-year-old child from Africa. The child was suffocating, and the mother and passing pilgrims could not help," the statement said.
Footage of the rescue was captured on video by a witness. According to Abdurakhmanova, she and other pilgrims were heading towards the Kaaba (the holiest site in Islam, located in the inner courtyard of the Masjid al-Haram).
"We saw a woman holding a child in her arms. The child was completely blue and suffocating. As a doctor, I couldn't stand by," Abdurakhmanova said in a video posted on the Hajj company's Telegram channel.
After the incident, Abdurakhmanova met with the company's CEO, Bulat Kurbanov. "As a token of gratitude for your act, and to show that we value it, we want to gift you a trip for Umrah," Kurbanov said.
