Democratic Front for Liberation of Palestine Calls for Formation of National Accord Government

08 August

Ali Faisal, a member of the politburo of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), has urged leaders of Palestinian fronts and movements to convene urgently to establish a government of national accord. This call follows agreements reached during a meeting in Beijing from July 21-23.

"The need for such a meeting and the formation of a collective leadership has intensified, especially after Yahya Sinwar was elected as the head of the Hamas politburo," Faisal told a TASS correspondent. He emphasized that the next step for the Palestinian leadership should be to create an executive authority to govern the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

Faisal argued that establishing a national accord government would counteract "a covert US-Israeli project."

"Political unity and steadfastness are crucial at this moment," he said. "We propose including experienced professionals from the Palestine Liberation Organization and resistance movement factions in the new government."

Faisal also asserted that Palestinian organizations are "fighting to protect their people against a campaign of destruction by Israel." He suggested that Sinwar’s election aligns with national interests and serves as a strong message to the international community in response to Israeli war crimes.

According to Faisal, the internal consolidation of Palestinian factions will bolster their negotiating position and facilitate a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, ultimately challenging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his policies.
