Malik Agar, the Deputy Head of Sudan's Sovereign Council, intends to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during his attendance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Agar announced this via Facebook on Tuesday (banned in Russia, recognized as extremist, owned by Meta Corporation).
"Today, I am en route to St. Petersburg alongside a delegation from the Sudanese government to partake in sessions at the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, scheduled from June 5 to 8. During this visit, I plan to hold discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and deliver a message from the head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan," the statement read.
Agar highlighted that the government delegation includes Foreign Minister Hussein Awad, Finance and Economic Planning Minister Jibril Ibrahim, and Minerals Minister Mohammed Bashir Abdallah. They intend to engage in multiple meetings with their counterparts as part of their visit.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, scheduled from June 5 to 8, revolves around the theme "The Formation of New Areas of Growth as the Cornerstone of a Multipolar World." The agenda includes meetings focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), creative businesses, SPIEF Youth Day, as well as forums such as "Drug Safety," "SPIEF Academy," and "SPIEF Junior." The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation, with TASS serving as a media partner.
