Director of Beirut Port: Authorities Working to Remove Cargo Amid Anticipation of Israeli Strikes

09 October

The administration of Beirut’s port is working to remove goods in anticipation of potential Israeli strikes, according to the port’s director, Omar Itani.

"We are working to evacuate goods from the port in preparation for an attack," Itani told Al Arabiya. He pointed out that Israel has "not yet imposed a blockade" on Beirut's port. "Commercial ships are still arriving at the port almost as usual," added the director of Lebanon's largest port.

On September 23, Israel launched "Operation Northern Arrows" against Hezbollah forces, conducting massive airstrikes on the movement’s military targets. During one of these strikes on September 27 in Beirut, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed. The Shia movement confirmed his death and vowed to continue resisting Israel. On the night of October 2, the Israeli army announced a limited ground operation in the border areas of southern Lebanon.
