The restoration will change the appearance of the Akhat Jami Cathedral Mosque in Donetsk, which was damaged by shelling from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as reported to TASS by Rashid Bragin, the Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the DPR.
"The restoration of the Donetsk Cathedral Mosque is planned to be completed in September 2026. There will be a massive restoration: both the replacement of the dome and the marble cladding of the entire mosque building; previously, it was not clad in marble. The courtyard area will be paved with white granite. The domes will be gold-colored," Bragin said.
He added that the mosque was seriously damaged by strikes from the UAF— there were six direct hits. The repairs are being carried out by Roskapstroy. Currently, the mosque has an emerald dome, and the exterior finish of the building is in beige and brown colors.
