The Coordination Committee for Air Defense under the Council of Defense Ministers of CIS member states convened to discuss strategies for improving the CIS Joint Air Defense System, according to a TASS correspondent.
Colonel-General Yury Grekhov, the deputy chairman of the coordination committee and deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force for armament, highlighted the ongoing efforts by armed forces to adapt the CIS Joint Air Defense System to address air and space defense challenges. He emphasized the collaborative work undertaken to establish unified regional air defense systems.
Furthermore, Grekhov noted the systematic resolution of organizing joint combat duty for air defense forces.
The meeting also delved into topics such as ensuring the reliable functioning of the Commonwealth's Unified Air Defense System, with a focus on developing regional air defense systems. Additionally, discussions encompassed matters of military-technical cooperation, exchange of operational and combat training experiences, and identified avenues for improvement.
Representatives from defense ministries of CIS member states, along with delegates from the CIS Executive Committee, the secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers of CIS countries, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia, defense industry enterprises, and key organizations in CIS countries specializing in air defense research and military personnel training, participated in the committee's proceedings on April 17 in Dushanbe. The Russian delegation, led by Colonel General Yury Grekhov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force for Armaments and Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Committee, was in attendance.
