Dust storm hits 10 provinces of Iran

A dust storm hit 10 provinces in Iran on Wednesday. The maximum allowable amount of dust and sand in the air has been exceeded several times, helped by strong winds and unstable weather, ISNA news agency reported, citing the head of Iran's National Center for Weather Forecasting and Crisis Management Sadegh Ziyan.


"The provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Qom, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Hamadan, Markazi, Khuzestan, Bushehr and Hormozgan have a high degree of air pollution, but in Tehran and Alborz the figure is decreasing," the agency quoted him as saying. - "Mainly air masses with dust and sand are brought into the country from Iraq and Syria".


In order to avoid possible damage to health and property, the population is advised to avoid staying outdoors and to monitor the strength of temporary structures.


In most of the affected provinces, classes in educational institutions have been canceled, the work of public institutions and banks have been suspended, except for emergency services.
