Egypt Calls for Unified Arab-Islamic Mechanism to Address Security Threats

15 September

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called on Arab and Islamic countries to create a unified mechanism to tackle common challenges. He made the remarks at an extraordinary summit of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Doha.

“It is time to develop an Arab-Islamic mechanism to counter threats in the security, political, and economic spheres. This will help us strengthen our current positions and take appropriate measures to resolve conflicts when necessary,” el-Sisi said. His speech was broadcast live on Qatar’s Al Jazeera channel.

El-Sisi emphasized, “the enemy should know that every Arab and Islamic country from the Atlantic Ocean to the Persian Gulf is under protection.”

“We will not tolerate violations of the sovereignty of our states, nor allow anyone to undermine our efforts to achieve peace,” the Egyptian president added.
