Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has urged the nations neighboring Sudan to put forth immediate measures to address the urgent humanitarian crisis in the strife-ridden nation. Shoukry conveyed this appeal during the inaugural session of the foreign ministers' assembly within the framework of Sudan's neighboring countries mechanism, held in N'Djamena, the capital city of Chad.
"The collective effort of Sudan's neighboring nations highlights a shared goal, genuine intent, and resolute political determination to guide the nation out of its current crisis and terminate the devastating conflict," Shoukry stated at the commencement of the session, as reported by Al Hadath TV. He emphasized, "The nations bordering Sudan should present their suggestions for a prompt intervention to address the severe humanitarian crisis." The foreign minister underscored, "Egypt aims to facilitate dialogue among our Sudanese brethren to effectively attain the established objectives."
During a summit held in Cairo on July 13, the leaders of the nations neighboring Sudan reached an agreement to establish a foreign ministers-level mechanism aimed at devising a comprehensive strategy to resolve the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Commencing on Monday, the inaugural meeting convened in N'Djamena, comprising foreign ministers from Egypt, Libya, Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, Eritrea, Ethiopia and South Sudan. The assembly is anticipated to deliberate on specific measures to halt hostilities and attain an all-encompassing resolution for the Sudanese crisis via direct negotiations with the involved Sudanese parties.
