Eight countries — China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Indonesia — actively took part in the BRICS working group session on research infrastructure and scientific projects, which opened on December 9 in Tehran, Zohra Farahani, head of the International Cooperation Group at Iran’s Presidential Center for Transformation Collaboration, said.
“This working group, established in 2015, is designed to identify practical and operational ways for member countries to collaborate and conduct joint research to tackle global challenges, particularly in the Global South,” Farahani told Mehr News Agency. She also highlighted the active and constructive participation of all eight BRICS nations on the first day of the meeting.
According to Mehr, the Tehran session will focus on promoting joint scientific initiatives among BRICS countries, improving funding mechanisms for major research projects, and strengthening the role of research institutions as engines of innovation, sustainable development, and scientific diplomacy.
