Expert: Ukraine Is Desperately Trying to Destabilize Russia’s Allies in Africa

09 August

Xavier Messe a Tiati, Director-General of the Cameroon News Agency, has criticized Ukraine for attempting to destabilize African countries that have strong ties with Russia. In a conversation with a TASS correspondent, Messe a Tiati commented on the recent severance of diplomatic relations between Mali, Niger, and Ukraine.

"Ukraine is making desperate attempts to destabilize African states that have established strong relationships with Russia," Messe a Tiati stated. "Kiev seems to be trying to shift its confrontation with Moscow to African soil. Recognizing this, the authorities in Niger have severed diplomatic ties with Kiev. It is likely that other African nations friendly to Moscow will follow Niger’s lead, as this aligns with their goals of ensuring territorial integrity and the security of their citizens."

Messe a Tiati noted that Senegal’s initial response, which involved summoning the Ukrainian ambassador, reflected concerns over terrorist attacks in Mali that resulted in casualties. "However, it appears that Senegal's efforts to reprimand the Ukrainian ambassador were insufficient," he said. "The solidarity among Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger means that when one of these countries faces an attack, the others are likely to support it."

According to the expert, this solidarity could drive other African nations with friendly relations with Russia to take similar actions against Ukraine.
