Russia has not participated and does not intend to participate in arming the warring parties in Afghanistan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Russia has in no way participated and is not going to participate in the arming of the Afghan warring parties. We are convinced that supplies of weapons to the conflict parties will not help stabilize the situation in Afghanistan, and on the contrary, will lead to the aggravation of intra-Afghan contradictions fraught with the risk of inciting a civil war on ethnic grounds," the Russian MFA said in a commentary on its website. The foreign ministry stressed that this scenario is fundamentally contrary to Russia's interests.

The foreign ministry also called as insinuations the comments of some American experts- Russophobes about the alleged deliveries of Russian weapons to the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan in Panjsher Province, in which Russia is mentioned as a producer of these weapons.
