Moscow is in constant contact with Uzbekistan on the situation in Afghanistan and is ready to help Tashkent if such a request is received, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told RIA Novosti.
"Of course, we cannot but worry about the worsening of the internal conflict in Afghanistan and its negative impact on the neighboring Central Asian states, so we are in constant contact with our Uzbek colleagues. Uzbekistan is our ally and strategic partner that shares a border with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. We are ready to provide additional assistance to our friends if such a need arises and if the Uzbek leadership asks for it," Rudenko said.
